Wild Cat Fact #49: The first felids emerged during the Oligocene Era, about 25 million years ago.

    **

well that's it, y'all. i have a very fuzzy head but i made it. -_-

the sky is brightening outside my window. another glorious day in the desert (yea right).

i found out via Missy's blog that sponsorships can actually be done til the end of the month! so if you are still game to sponsor me, please do!

final tally as of right now: $280!! far surpassed my expectations, to say the least. i hope the staff of the Cat House appreciates your pledged donations as much as i do.

NOTE - when you get ready to pay (i believe this is possible), please mark your donations for Project Tiger. this way, they will be set aside and put to use on Project Tiger rather than placed into whatever main fund they have that is spread out for use over the whole compound.

and now thanks to all my sponsors in no particular order:
    -- mom &dad (especially dad!)
    -- Poppy
    -- Missy
    -- Shay
    -- g33kgurl
    -- Khouria Jen
    -- Lissa Ann
    -- Lindsey
-- my coworkers Sherrill, Bobbie, Betty, and Pam (and Pam's hubby Mike)
    -- Elegy
    -- Clio
-- and last but not least, my SPA girls: Rose, Norms and MaryJane

your willingness to share in my cause is wonderful. couldn't have done it without y'all!!

Wild Cat Fact #36: The bobcat's binomial (species) name is lynx rufus. There had been debate over whether to classify this species as Lynx rufus or Felis rufus as part of a wider issue regarding whether the four species of Lynx should be given their own genus, or be placed as a subgenus of Felis. The Lynx genus is now accepted, and the Bobcat is listed as Lynx rufus in modern taxonomic sources.

most of my laundry is put away. stopped to come here and post this. will return to finish putting it away after this entry goes up.

first soda of the night opened. may or may not have some crackers. i haven't eaten late at night in weeks (in order not to go to bed with food on the stomach). i'd hate to break that habit just for blogathon.

Betty hasn't called yet. i shoulda gotten her number in return. eh well. if she's too tired to stop by, it's no big deal to me.

i never did watch a movie like i had planned to. but i think if i tried it now i'd fall asleep and not only miss the movie, but the rest of the blogathon. which would be bad.

going back for round whatever of Zuma....maybe i'll have better luck this time. :P

yahoo says it's 92 degrees still. blech.

times like this i wish blogathon would be held in the winter. then i know i could stay awake by slugging hot chocolate, LOL.

if Betty remembers to call me, i expect i will hear from her in a half hour. no word from Bri--i'm supposing she went to sleep again. better that way--let her heal.

trying not to yawn. getting harder....

now i'd like to give a nod to those who have exchanged sponsorships with me!

at lunchtime, i mentioned Missy over at the Chef's Table, supporting the National Kidney Foundation in honor of her best friend David. like all cancers and other such terminal conditions, kidney disease must be eradicated! i pray that it's done in our lifetime--that a few (or more) years from now, David himself might get to see a world without the disease that threatened his life.

like Missy, Jen over at So What's Plan B? is also blogging for a cause special to her heart--the the Precclampsia Foundation. her little boy Daniel was born at only 29 weeks because she developed precclampsia. thankfully the hospital staff where she was recognized it and saved them both. if you visit her blog, you can see pics of baby Daniel (the "Daniel-kitten" as her cat Edda has dubbed him...i love it).

Lissa Ann offered to do a tit-for-tat pledge with me and i realized i had never heard of her charity, Modest Needs, before. they have, as their website states, "a simple but critical mission: we work to stop the cycle of poverty BEFORE it starts for the low-income workers whom conventional philanthropy has forgotten". what an absolutely NEAT idea.

and last but not least, Lindsey over at Suspension of Disbelief is blogging for a very great cause--the Actors' Fund, which assists all professionals involved in the entertainment industries. as a die-hard supporter of the fine arts and disgusted with the way it's being slowly whittled out of the schools in favor of wasting MORE unnecessary money on "sports" (i.e. more like so the schools can fill up a trophy case), i'm glad to see that an organization like this exists.

so visit them and, if you can, give them a little towards their causes!! and thank YOU four for sponsoring me and the Cat House!!

    Current Music: Delerium, "Euphoria (Firefly)"
    9:31 pm
Wild Cat Fact #32: The lion is the biblical emblem of the tribe of Judah and later the Kingdom of Judah. It is contained within Jacob's blessing to his fourth son in the penultimate chapter of the Book of Genesis, "Judah is a lion's whelp; On prey, my son have you grown. He crouches, lies down like a lion, like the king of beasts—who dare rouse him?" (Genesis 49:9)

    **

i want to be like that tiger.

but i must wait several more hours.

    guh.

i did dust behind the water heater though. yay for Swiffer dusters!

Aazari and i are discussing musicals, specifically Cats. which i saw in London. and eh. not enough story to go with the songs, IMO.

and one of the team leaders of Blogathon looks a lot like my RL friend Layne.
